DMCA

We take copyright seriously at generator-username.com, both our own and that of others. Below you will find how to send a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. §512) and what happens next.

How to report infringement

A notice must be in writing and include the following six elements:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or of someone authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
  2. The copyrighted work concerned, identified clearly, or a representative list where the notice covers multiple works.
  3. Identification of the material on generator-username.com that you claim is infringing, with enough detail for us to find it, ideally the full address of each page.
  4. How to reach you: your name, address, telephone number and email.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  6. A statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you own the right or are authorised to act for the owner.

Where to send it

Notices should go to [email protected]; a subject line such as “DMCA notice” helps us find them quickly. We review notices promptly. When a notice is complete and valid, we remove or disable access to the material and let you know. Incomplete notices may delay the process, so please check every element above before sending.

Counter-notification

If you believe material was removed in error, you can respond with a counter-notice to [email protected] that includes:

Once we receive a valid counter-notice, we may restore the material within 10 to 14 business days unless the complainant informs us that they have gone to court.

Policy on repeat infringers

generator-username.com has no user accounts or uploads, but where it applies, we will, in appropriate circumstances, cut off access for anyone who repeatedly infringes copyright.

Misrepresentation

Section 512(f) of the Copyright Act provides that knowingly and materially misrepresenting infringement, or a mistaken removal, can lead to liability for damages, costs and attorneys' fees. If you are not sure whether a use infringes, perhaps because it could be fair use, it may be wise to get legal advice first.
